About White Pine

White Pine is a small town in Jefferson County, Tennessee with a population of around 2,200. The town was settled in the 1780's but was not incorporated until 1915. 

Originally known as "Dandridge Crossing," White Pine was renamed for a giant pine tree that once stood along Main Street. Being a central area where the railroad and stagecoach road intersected, it is easy to understand how a town would pop up in this location. Previous generations living in White Pine would say they were "going to the crossing" instead of "going into town." That's how important the intersection became to the town. 

History is a big part of the White Pine community. You can see this in the upkeep of the historical Lawson-Franklin House.

Why White Pine

White Pine is a great location if you want to stay out of the hustle and bustle of busy towns but still have the option find entertainment in just a short drive. You are only 35 minutes from Pigeon Forge and Knoxville and 45 minutes from Gatlinburg and the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. 

One of the most visited attractions in White Pine is the Expo Center. Here you can attend horse shows, motor cross races, graduations, or other fun events. You are also conveniently located to 54 holes of golf and a handful of restaurants. 

White Pine is also a great location if you enjoy water activities since it is a few minutes away from Douglas Lake. 

Universities, Medical Facilities, and other Services

Schools are provided by the Jefferson County School System. K-8 is in White Pine and high school is at Jefferson County High School in Jefferson City. White Pine is conveniently located close to Carson Newman University, Walters State Community College in Morristown, and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville. These are all within a short drive. 

The closest hospitals are Jefferson Memorial in Jefferson City and the Morristown-Hamblen Healthcare System.
