The real estate market in East Tennessee has a lot to offer. One of those is the beautiful land and homes for sale in Baneberry TN where you can find numerous lakefront properties. Baneberry is a fantastic place to live and a great place to invest in real estate.
Baneberry is a very small town in Jefferson County with a population of around 500 and a total area of 1.8 square miles. It got its name from the poisonous baneberry bushes that grew in abundance around the current site of the town. The berries are so toxic that they have been known to cause cardiac arrest and even death. Thankfully, the town is much nicer than the plant it's named after!
Baneberry, though small, is regionally known as a resort town, nestled in the foothills of the Great Smoky Mountains on the shores of Douglas Lake. There is no limit to the fun water activities you can participate in - fishing, boating, water skiing, etc.
Baneberry is mostly known as being home to an 18-hole championship golf course located at Baneberry Golf and Resort. Here there is a pro sports shop, tennis courts, swimming pool, and a restaurant and tavern.
Another attraction in Baneberry is the Baneberry Inn, which mostly exists to house the many golfers that visit every year.
Most students who live in Baneberry attend school in White Pine for K-8, a school provided by the Jefferson County School System. They then attend Jefferson County High School in Jefferson City after that. The closest colleges and universities are Carson Newman University, Walters State Community College, and the University of Tennessee in Knoxville.
One of Baneberry's most popular venues is the Baneberry Community Center, where there are numerous events and classes scheduled throughout the year.
