Farragut is a suburb of Knoxville in Knox County, Tennessee with a population of over 23,000. It was originally settled in 1787 and called "Campbell's Station" after a fort and stage coach station build by Captain David Campbell. This is where the historic Civil War Battle of Campbell's Station was fought in November of 1863. Afterwards, the town was renamed to Farragut in honor of David Farragut, a Civil War Admiral.
Located on the eastern boundary of Farragut is a historic village called Concord. This is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. With its strategic location to the railroad and the main channel of the Tennessee River, Concord was an important part of the Tennessee marble industry.
In 1980, Farragut incorporated its town to avoid annexation by Knoxville.
