Introduction to Seymour, Tennessee

Seymour, is located between Knoxville and Sevierville in Sevier County, Tennessee.  The community is located within 40 minutes drive of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. It is a 20 minute drive to downtown Knoxville. Seymour is an unincomporated community approaching 10,000 in population. Historically, the community was known as Newell's Station  but is now rarely known by this name within the community. The first court (meeting of the county legislative body) of Sevier County, State of Franklin, was held at Newell's Station on Boyds Creek in March 1785. Upon completion on December 18, 1909, of the Knoxville, Sevierville & Eastern Railway, the community's station was named Seymour in honor of the line's chief engineer.

Seymour is home to secluded mountain and farm properties, as well as more conventional housing developments. In Seymour, there are still uncrowded surburban locations where you can have vistas of the countryside or great views of the mountains.
