Farragut, Tennessee is an upscale community (population 20,000) bordering Knoxville.  In 2007, Farragut was named one of the “25 Best Affordable Places in the South” by Business Week.  In addition, the town is part of the reason for the high rankings of Knoxville as a place to live and work.  The town of Farragut, which is incorporated, has no debt and no city real estate taxes for homeowners.  Services provided by Knox County include public schools, a public library, and police protection.  The town itself has beautifully designed parks, great recreation opportunities, a wide range of church denominations and excellent residential developments.   It is named in honor of American Civil War Admiral David Farragut, who was born just east of Farragut at Campbell's Station in 1801.

The area was originally known as Campbell’s Station. A fort and stage coach station were built there by David Campbell in 1787. The brick Campbell's Station Inn was built there in 1810 and still stands on Kingston Pike within sight of the Farragut Town Hall. It is still in use as a private residence. The Civil War Battle of Campbell's Station was fought there on November 16, 1863.

Farragut is served by a wide range of restaurants located within the town and nearby.  Farragut is served primarily by two nearby modern hospitals, Parkwest Medical Center and Baptist Hospital West.

Farragut has two parks for youth sports, and Knox County’s Concord Park bordering Farragut has facilities for a number of youth sports.  Farragut borders Fort Loudon Lake, where a Yacht Club and a number of boat docks are available to the public.  You can own a home or condo on the lake in on near Farragut.  Farragut is also served by several athletic and physical fitness facilities and four golf facilities, two of which are competition level course located in Farragut.  Farragut has a network of walking and biking trails that connect many of the residential and business areas.
